Abstract:

To obtain a methionine derivative NMEP(neutral metalloendopeptidase) inhibitor enhancing an activity of atrial natriuretic factor and having a function of reducing blood pressure.

This is a methionine derivative NMEP inhibitor, e.g. a carboxyalkyl inhibitor such as thiolphane (N-[(R,S)-3-mercapto-2- benzylpropanoyl]-glycine), or a compound of the formula [R1u is an 1-6C alkyl, adamanthyl or the like; R2u and R6u are independently a hydroxy, 2-8C alkoxy or the like; R3u is an 1-6C alkyl, 4-6C cycloalkylmethyl or the like; R4u is shown by the formula Du-CnuH2nu-Omu (Du is H, 1-4C alkyl or the like; (mu) is 0 or 1; and (nu) is an integer of 0 to 4); R5u is H or 1-6C alkyl; and (pu) is 0 to 2]. There provides a higher antihypertensive effect a composition comprising the NMEP inhibitor and extrinsic atrial peptide or another composition comprising a NMEP inhibitor and ACE inhibitor.
