To provide a noble metal catalyst capable of materializing a fuel cell displaying sufficient battery performance and having excellent durability.
The noble metal catalyst in which the ratio of peak intensity I(110) attributed to hydrogen adsorbed to the crystalline plane (110) of the surface of platinum to the peak intensity I(100) attributed to hydrogen adsorbed to the crystalline plane (100) of the surface of platinum I(110)/I(100) is not less than 1.0 and not more than 1.6, in a current-potential curve showing desorption of hydrogen on the surface of platinum which is obtained when sweeping a potential in the direction from a baser potential to a nobler potential, among cyclic voltammograms obtained in an acid solution, is used for the fuel cell.
