To provide a node equipment that conducts economical wavelength multipling of lots of optical signals and to provide a ring network that has restoring capability against a broken optical fiber, a broken fiber cable and a fault of a multiplexer (ADM).
A node equipment contains optical fibers 5-1-5-4, 6-1-6-4 that send a wavelength multiplex optical signal. The node equipment is provided with optical switch sections 9-l-9-4 that switch optical lines through which an optical signal is received/outputted, wavelength demultiplexers 11-2, 11-3, 11-5, 11-8 that demultiplex thewavelength multiplex signal from the optical switch sections 9-1-9-4, wavelength multiplexers 11-1, 11-4, 11-6, 11-7 that apply wavelength multiplexing to the optical signal to the optical switch sections 9-1-9-4, and a multiplexer ADM that is placed between the wavelength demultiplexers 11-2, 11-3, 11-5, 11-8 and the wavelength multiplexers 11-1, 11-4, 11-6, 11-7 and conducts demultiplexing, insertion or recovery-relaying for the optical signal with each wavelength. Furthermore, the ring network is configured by using pluralities of the node equipments.
