PURPOSE: To form both a surface mounting type and lead type noise filters through a common manufacturing process by dividing the external electrode connecting section of a second internal electrode into a winding starting end and winding ending end or their vicinities on the same side of a winding-side section.

CONSTITUTION: A pair of first and second internal electrodes 2 and 3 composed of aluminum or an aluminum alloy are wound up in a superimposing state with an insulator 1 composed of a polyphenylene sulfate film in between. At the time of winding the electrodes 2 and 3, the electrode 2 is wound by shifting the electrode 2 from the electrode 3 so that the electrode 2 can be protruded from the end face of the wound body as earthing foil. In addition, external electrode connecting members 4 and 5 composed of lead wires or metallic pieces are welded to the winding starting and ending ends as coil foil. At the time of welding the members 4 and 5, the members 4 and 5 are lead out to the same side of the winding end face and an external electrode connecting section 6 protruding from the winding-side face on the electrode 2 side and the members 4 and 5 on the electrode 3 side are positioned on the opposite side of the winding-side face.
