PURPOSE: To completely insulate natural vibration and noise of a metal-metal contact from upper and lower shift levers by using a simple two-parts lever damping assembly.
CONSTITUTION: Upper and lower shift levers 12, 14 are held by a two-parts lever damping assembly 20 so as to be coaxially aligned at a distance so as to be integrally moved in plural planes. The first part of the two-parts lever damping assembly is a cylindrical elastomer sleeve 22 with female shape end parts 26, 28 at a mutual distance in the axial line direction formed with holes surrounding in a sliding fit condition to cover male shape end parts 16, 18 of shift levers with friction. The second part is a cylindrical metallic shell 24 surrounding the sleeve 22 in the circumferential direction. The sleeve equipped with an intermediate part 34 including a barrier 36 and male shape end parts 16, 18 are capsulated by the shell 24 so as to prevent a direct physical contact in between shift lever ends 18, 20.
