Abstract:

To provide a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery that is superior in safety under the high temperature condition at over-charging.

In the non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery, a group of electrode plates in which a positive electrode 2 and a negative electrode 3 are wound together with a separator 4 are sealed in a case 5 together with a non-aqueous electrolyte added with an aromatic group additive such as biphenyl. The separator 4 between the electrode plates has an air permeability resistance of 250-800 seconds/100 ml after pretreatment for 15 minutes at the atmospheric temperature of 110°C with the separator placed under the tensile load of 25 kg/cm2 in the direction of MD, or at the atmospheric temperature of 130°C with the separator fixed in the direction of TD.
