To provide a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery that is suitable for use in EVs or HEVs.
A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes: an electrode body that has positive electrode plates, and negative electrode plates, arranged through separators; and an outer package that houses the electrode body together with a non-aqueous electrolytic solution. To the non-aqueous electrolytic solution, LiPF2O2 and an additive that forms a coating on a surface of positive-electrode active material are added. Preferably, the additive that forms the coating on the surface of the positive-electrode active material is 1,3-propanesultone. Also preferably, a lithium transition metal compound as the positive-electrode active material contains nickel and/or manganese.
