To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery securing safety of the battery at overcharge without damaging high temperature preservation property.
The nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery has an anode and a cathode capable of storing and releasing lithium, a separator, and a nonaqueous electrolyte solution containing nonaqueous solvent and lithium salt. The separator is composed of a porous film made of thermoplastic resin containing inorganic filler, and the nonaqueous electrolyte contains aromatic compound with heat generating property of 1.5 or higher. The lowering of the battery characteristics due to the plugging of the separator caused by a polymerized overcharge preventing agent at high temperature preservation is prevented by using the aromatic compound as the overcharge preventing agent and combining a specific separator.
