Abstract:
Provided is a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery in which metal precipitation on a negative electrode is suppressed and cycle characteristics are improved. According to an aspect of the present invention, provided is a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprising a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a non-aqueous electrolyte. The positive electrode comprises: a positive electrode current collector; a positive electrode active material layer formed on the positive electrode current collector while leaving an exposed portion of the positive electrode current collector; and an insulating layer formed in a boundary portion between the exposed portion of the positive electrode current collector and the positive electrode active material layer. The positive electrode active material layer comprises: a body part; and an end portion having a thickness thinner than the body part. The insulating layer is inserted between the positive electrode current collector and the end portion and is formed so as to cover the end portion. The width La of the positive electrode active material layer and the width Lb of the insulating layer interposed between the positive electrode current collector and the end portion satisfy a formula, 0.02 × 10^(-2) <= (Lb / La) <= 2.1 × 10^(-2).
