Title:
NON-AQUEOUS ELECTROLYTE SECONDARY BATTERY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0645006
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the deterioration of characteristics of a battery even in the case of short-circuiting or excessive electric discharging by composing, of stainless steel, a negative electrode constituting member made of a carbon material.

CONSTITUTION: A positive electrode 1 is made of a compound containing lithium, and a negative electrode 2 is made of a carbon material capable of occulding or emitting a lithium ion. A negative electrode material to be brought into direct or indirect contact with the negative electrode is composed of stainless steel. The positive electrode 1 and the negative electrode 2 are wound via a separator 3, to be inserted into an outer can 7 as a spiral electrode assembly. A negative electrode lead 5 is extended from the negative electrode 2, to be welded to the outer can 7. A positive electrode lead 4 is extended from the positive electrode 1, to be electrically connected to a positive electrode external terminal 6 provided with a safety valve mechanism. The electrode assembly is inserted into the outer can 7, and a non-aqueous electrolyte is fed into the outer can 7. The terminal 6 is securely caulked to the opening of the outer can via an insulating packing 8. The negative current collector cannot be dissolved even if a high potential is generated in the negative electrode 2 by excessive electric discharging, thereby restraining the deterioration of electric characteristics.
