PURPOSE: To cut a non-circle in good response by producing intermediate data out of profile data for several known profiles and combining cutting performances of a driving system driven in accordance with the profile data for each of high frequency and low frequency components.
CONSTITUTION: A cutting tool holder 2 is set back and forth by a piezoelectric actuator 1 and a table 5 on which the cutting tool holder 2 is put is by a linear motor 3. Profile data, which is stored in a first storing means, by preset pitches in an axial direction of a workpiece W is converted by a data converting means into frequency function data in the order of 1...n for the angle speed of rotation of the workpiece W and separated by a data separating means into high and low frequency components to find amplitude and phase for every order through interpolation corresponding to a location between profiles by an operating means. The operated data is returned by a data reversely converting means to the profile data and stored in a second storing means by frequency components, so that the piezoelectric actuator 1 is actuated in accordance with data for high frequency component and the linear motor 3 is in accordance with data for low frequency component to cut the workpiece W into a non-circle which is varied with the profiles.
