To prevent lowering in the efficiency of power supply from a reader/ writer to a non-contact IC card, to suppress the occurrence of errors in signal transmitting/receiving and to identify the passing direction of a user concerning the reader/writer for simultaneously reading plural non-contact IC cards.
This reader/writer is provided with plural antennas 22 parallel operable respectively corresponding to a single non-contact IC card, a signal separating means 14 for mutually separating plural signals received by these antennas, a logic number assigning means 15 for assigning mutually different logic numbers to plural non-contact IC cards 30 to respectively communicate through the said antennas and a communication control means 15 for performing communication among the plural non-contact IC cards while using the assigned logic numbers.
