To provide a non-line stitched book with a non-contact IC tag which stores information and displays a function to manage the circulation/inventory of the book and also for an antitheft precaution, and a method for manufacturing this book.

This non-line stitched book 1 with a non-contact IC tag stores information relative to an attached book and communicates with an external reader/writer using an electric wave of a specified frequency. The non-contact IC tag is retained or formed on the inner surface side of either of (1) a face cover, (2) the face cover and a back cover, (3) the face cover, a spine cover and the back cover, (4) the spine cover and the back cover or (5) the back cover. In addition, the inner surface of the face cover or the back cover and the endpaper 6 of the cover are stuck together so as not to allow visual inspection from outside. The non-contact IC tag 2 may be of either of the types, i.e. a label-like non-contact IC tag or a tag with an IC chip-mounted label fitted to an antenna pattern.
