To obtain non-linear characteristic of a dielectric, by constituting first and second electrodes formed in first and second surfaces of a dielectric consisting of dielectric ceramics which shows non-linear characteristic of a metallic film formed by a thin film formation method.
A non-linear dielectric element 1 is constituted by using a plate- like dielectric 2 consisting of dielectric ceramics which shows non-linear characteristic. A first electrode 3 is formed on an upper surface 2a as a first surface of the dielectric 2 and a second electrode 4 is formed on a lower surface 2b as a second surface. The discoidal dielectric 2 is prepared by performing dry- type press and baking for barium titanate ceramic powder as a dielectric material which shows non-linear characteristic. Electrodes 3, 4 are formed by sputtering in both surfaces of the dielectric 2. To form the electrodes 3, 4 by sputtering, a Cu-Ni alloy film is formed by sputtering first and then an Ag film is formed on a Cu-Ni film by sputtering.
