To reduce construction cost for a non-rail type moving rack device and improve the travelling stability of a moving rack by maintaining the straight movement of the moving rack using reference lines requiring no strong connection of the moving rack.

The non-rail type moving rack device 1 comprises the moving rack 4 having driving wheels 2 at both ends in the longitudinal direction for travelling on a floor surface 3 with no rail in the cross direction using the driving wheels 2, two reference lines 5 provided on the upper side of the rack corresponding to both ends in the longitudinal direction of the moving rack 4 all over a travel area along the travelling direction of the moving rack 4, inclination detecting means 7 for detecting the inclination of the moving rack 4 based on the reference lines 5, shift detecting means 6 for detecting the shift of the moving rack 4 based on the reference lines 5, and control means 8 for controlling the driving wheels 2 as predetermined in accordance with the detection results of the shift detecting means 6 and the inclination detecting means 7.
