To provide a nonaqueous secondary battery which has excellent overcharge stability and moreover can secure a storage reliability by dint of little gas generation at high temperature storage.
The nonaqueous secondary battery is provided with an electrode lamination layer 6 with a cathode 1 and an anode 2 spirally wound over through a separator 3, and a nonaqueous electrolyte. The above nonaqueous electrolyte contains a compound A of a benzene ring combined with a halogen group and a compound B which is oxidized at a lower electric potential than the above compound A. The above compound B is at least one selected out of aromatic compounds and heterocyclic compounds. The portable instrument is provided with the above nonaqueous secondary battery.
