To obtain a nonaqueous dispersion type resin composition for coating materials, excellent in weatherability, staining resistance and applicability in cold districts and lowly odorous when applied by mixing a specified organic solvent with a specified resin dispersant, a polymer insoluble in the organic solvent and a silicate oligomer.
Hundred pts.wt. radical-polymerizable monomer is polymerized in the presence of 3-80 pts.wt. resin dispersant (B) containing 1-20wt.% hydrolyzable-silyl-containing vinyl monomer component and being soluble in A in an organic solvent (A) in which a silicate oligomer is insoluble to obtain a nonaqueous dispersion type resin composition (I) comprising a polymer (C) insoluble in A. Hundred pts.wt. B is mixed with 100-700 pts.wt. silicate oligomer (D) insoluble in A, desirably an oligomer represented by the formula (wherein R is H, a 1-4C alkyl or a phenyl; and (n) is 2-30) in A to obtain a nonaqueous dispersion (II). (I) and (II) are mixed with each other in such a mixing ratio that 5-200 pts.wt. D of (I) is present per 100 pts.wt. C of (I) to obtain the purpose resin composition.
