The nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes an anode having formed on an anode core body an anode active material layer which is composed of an anode active material and a binding agent. The anode active material contains silicon particles and/or silicon alloy particles, and the binding agent contains polyimide resin having a weight average molecular weight of 10,000-200,000 and polyvinylidene fluoride having a weight average molecular weight of 500,000-1,000,000, characterized in that the compounding ratio by weight of the polyimide resin in the anode active material layer is 5-10 mass%, and that the compounding ratio by weight of the polyvinylidene fluoride in the anode active material layer is 0.25-2 mass%.
