Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery excellent both in discharge capacity and thermal stability.
SOLUTION: The nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery is provided with a positive electrode containing a metal oxide with a composition expressed in a formula (1): Li2-xM1-yM'yXzAO4, a negative electrode and a nonaqueous electrolyte. In the formula, M expresses at least one kind of atoms selected from a group consisting of Ti, Nb, Mo and Ta, M' expresses at least one kind of atoms selected from a group consisting of V, Cr, Mn, Re, Fe, Co, Ni, Ru, Rh, Pd, Os, Ir, Pt, Cu, Ag, and Au, X expresses an atom of either O or F, A expresses at least a kind of atoms selected from a group of Si, Ge, P, and S, and x, y, and z satisfy the relationship: 0≤x≤2, 0≤y≤0.5, and 0.5≤z≤1.5, respectively.
