To improve the charging/discharging capacity and the coulomb efficiency by using a carbonaceous material to be obtained by heating dihydro-1,3- benzooxazine compound in the inactive atmosphere or in vacuum at the specified temperature for either a positive electrode or a negative electrode.
A dihydro-1,3-benzooxazine compound has a structure to be expressed by formula. In the formula, (n) is 2, R1 is a phenyl radical, and R2 is carbonyl group. A carbonaceous material to be used as a negative electrode is obtained by heating the compound, and the temperature of heat treatment is in the range of 400 to 3000°C. The carbonized material is chopped after heat treatment so as to be made into a powdered carbonaceous material. The powdered carbonaceous material can be easily obtained by previously taking out and chopping an intermediate product before the terminal temperature in heat treatment. The carbonaceous material is formed into an electrode by being mixed with polymer such as polyethylene.
