To provide a nonaqueous secondary battery of high safety, superior mass-productivity, wherein self discharge is not much and a capacity is not lowered much, even after keeping it for a long time and keeping it in a high temperature, and to especially enhance preservation characteristics of the nonaqueous secondary battery using a lithium manganese composite oxide for a positive electrode.
In this nonaqueous secondary battery, the acting material applied surface of a negative electrode is larger than the active material applied surface of a positive electrode facing the negative electrode, and the active material applied area of the negative electrode is set to be not more than 105% of the active material applied area of the positive electrode. After adjusting a negative electrode potential so as to make it lower than the lithium metal potential by not more than 1,000 mV, after assembling, initial discharging is carried out for solving above problem.
