Title:
NONASBESTINE FRICTION MATERIAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH04142336
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a nonasbestine friction material which has a stable coeffi cient of friction and excellent fading resistance at low to high speeds by mixing a fiber component except asbestos with a thermosetting resin component and a filler powder component at least partially consisting of alumina-zirconia. CONSTITUTION:A friction material comprising a fiber component except asbestos (e.g. aramid fiber, glass fiber or copper fiber), a thermosetting resin component such as a phenolic resin and a filler powder component such as graphite or barium sulfate, wherein the filler powder component at least partially consists of alumina/zirconia. This is a nonasbestine friction material which has a stable coefficient of friction at low to high speeds and improved fading resistance, and therefore it is desirable as a friction material used for automobile brake pads, brake linings, clutch facings, etc.
