Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a noncombustible sheet which can be produced in low cost as it shows excellent non-combustibility and fire resistance and high surface smoothness.
CONSTITUTION: The slurry mainly containing platelet particles of brucite (naturally occurring ore of magnesium hydroxide) is made into paper. To this slurry, may further be added a binder such as a thermoplastic resin or a thermosetting resin, reinforcing fibers such as sepiolite (fibrous ore of magnesium silicate) or glass fibers. Since brucite is used as a main material, the sheet exhibits excellent non-combustibility and fire resistance, and easy paper making reduces the production cost. Further, the platelet particles serves for forming the surfaces of high smoothness.
