To provide a noncontact IC card having a convenient structure usable for communication, even with a host device of a different communication processing form by the same card.
This noncontact IC card has respectively two pieces of modulating circuits 2 and 3 of a different modulating method, demodulating circuits 4 and 5 of a different demodulating method, coding circuit 6 and 7 of a different coding method, and decoding circuits 8 and 9 of a different decoding method in an IC chip 1, and is formed as a type for coping with two kinds of application by storing a switching control program in a read-only nonvolatile memory (ROM) 12 for controlling the respective circuits in a switching system, so as to conicide with the respective methods indicated in a specific command by a control circuit 10 at reception processing time of the specific command transmitted from the host device 14, and can be used for communication, even with a host device of a different communication processing form other than the host device 14.
