NONCONTACT MEASURING METHOD FOR ELECTRIC RESISTANCE OF TEST MATERIAL

Abstract:

PURPOSE: To determine the stray capacity between coupling electrodes, the coupling capacity between the coupling electrode and a test material, and the resistance of the test material by feeding an AC current from two coupling electrodes to the test material and measuring total impedance at three frequencies.
CONSTITUTION: An AC current is fed from two coupling electrodes 2, 3 to a test material 1. The imaginary part of total impedance is measured using a high frequency AC power supply and the stray capacity CS between both coupling electrodes 2, 3 is measured. On the other hand, the imaginary part of total impedance is measured using a low frequency AC power supply and the coupling capacity CK between the coupling electrodes 2 or 3 and a test material 1 is determined while taking account of the stray capacity CS. Subsequently, the real part of total impedance is measured using an AC current between the high and low frequencies for minimizing the phase shift. Finally, the resistance R of the material 1 is determined while taking account of the stray capacity CS and the coupling capacity CK. In order, to enhance the measurement accuracy furthermore, the test material 1 may be measured using two electrodes separated by different distances therefrom.
