PURPOSE: To realize compact configuration, good transmission efficiency, and superior reliability by making the diameter of the core of an external device smaller than the diameter of the core in an IC card.
CONSTITUTION: The magnetic induction part composed of the thin core 2 which has a diameter 2 and high magnetic permeability and a coil 4 wound around the core 2 is arranged at the center part of the IC card 5. When the IC card 5 is mounted on the external device, the core 2 of the IC card 2 is inserted into the gap part of the core 1 of the external device and the core 2 and core 1 are arranged in opposition relation. At this time, the diameter 1 of the core 1 is set smaller than the diameter 2 of the core 2. Consequently, magnetic coupling which has high efficiency and small leak magnetic flux is realized and the reliability of noncontact transmission and reception of information is improved.
