Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a neutral and nonionic water-based pressure-sensitive adhesive prepd. by emulsion polymn. process.
CONSTITUTION: A neutral nonionic latex comprises about 20-about 60 wt.% nonionic polymer (a) comprising polymerized free radically polymerizable nonionic monomer (this free radically polymerizable nonionic monomer comprises about 90-about 99 wt.% nonionic alkyl acrylate monomer (i) and about 1-about 10 wt.% nonionic alkylamide monomer (ii) and the wt.% of (i) and (ii) are based on the total wt. of (i) and (ii)), about 30-about 95 wt.% aqueous phase (b) and about 2-about 10 wt.% nonionic emulsifier (c) (based on the total wt. of the nonionic polymer and the nonionic emulsifier) and here, particles of this nonionic polymer are stabilized by the nonionic emulsifier and are dispersed within the aqueous phase.
