To provide a nonlinear dielectric element, in which a nonlinear characteristic in electric field-charge is difficult to be deteriorated and a large pulse voltage can be obtained surely.

The nonlinear dielectric element is provided with an element main body 12, constituted of dielectric ceramic showing nonlinear behavior in an electric field-charge characteristic, electrodes 15 and 16 formed on the upper face 13 and the lower face 14 of the element main body 12 and insulating layers 17 and 18 formed to cover the outer peripheral parts of the upper face 13 and the lower face 14 from the vicinity of the respective outer peripheral edges of the electrodes 15 and 16. In the nonlinear dielectric element 11, the electrodes 15 and 16 include conductive components and barium borosilicate glass, and the insulating layers 17 and 18 include barium borosilicate glass.
