Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide the nonlinear optical device which can efficiently take out double higher harmonic waves by phase matching utilizing Cherenkov radiation by using the nonlinear optical device formed with the thin film consisting of CuAl(SySe1-y)2 (0<=y<=1) on a substrate consisting of ZnSxSe1-x (0<=x<=1). CONSTITUTION:The thin single crystal film 12 consisting of the CuAl(SySe1-y)2 is formed in a stripe shape on the substrate 11 consisting of ZnS or ZnSxSe1- to form a light guide. Since the substrate consisting of the ZnS or ZnSSe is transparent to light of 400nm band of double higher harmonic waves, the adoption of the phase matching method utilizing the Cherenkov radiation is possible and the phase matching is extremely facilitated without requiring precision temp. control. An iodine transporting method is used as the crystal growth method of the substrate 11 and an org. metal vapor growth method is used as the crystal growth method of the single crystal film 12. The single crystal film 12 to be made into the light guide layer is formed to the stripe shape by using photolithography and dry etching process after the growth thereof.
