Japanese Patent JPS51131844
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
1499276 Aryl ketones KOPPERS CO Inc 14 April 1976 [18 April 1975] 15409/76 Heading C2C Aryl ketones are obtained by acylating a non-hydroxylated aromatic compound with an aliphatic or aromatic carboxylic acid or anhydride thereof in the vapour phase at a temperature from 250‹ to 500‹ C. in the presence of an acidic silica-alumina catalyst having a surface area of at least 50 square metres/gram whereby an effluent is produced containing the aryl ketone. The effluent obtained in the process may be recycled to the reaction after crystallizing out the required aryl ketone. Specified catalysts are amorphous and crystalline silica-alumina catalysts.
