PURPOSE: To enable to perform an ink jet recording by using an ordinary ink by a method wherein a surface coating layer containing a material to be soluble or swelling with ink is installed on a surface of a nonporous medium.
CONSTITUTION: When an ink jet recording is performed by means of a nonporous medium such as polyethylene, a cellulose resin, glass, iron and copper, a surface coating layer containing a material which is soluble or swelling with ink is installed on the surface of a nonporous medium. As for such a material, when the ink is a water soluble ink, they are sodium polyacrylate and gelatine, when ink is a water ink containing a water soluble organic solbent, they are nitrocellulose and cellulose acetate, etc. and when the ink is an oily ink, they are polyacetic acid vinyl and poly vinyl chloride, etc. Using the material as abovementioned, a coating layer of an approximately 1W30μm thickness is formed, and with this, the use of a special ink is made needless.
