Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a nonquenched and tempered steel having high strength and toughness and usable as hot worked by adding specified percentages of C, Si, Mn, P, S, Al, V and N to Fe.

CONSTITUTION: A steel consisting of 0.25W0.55% C, 0.10W0.60% Si, 1.0W2.5% Mn, ≤0.02% P, ≤0.05% S, 0.005W0.05% Al, 0.08W0.15% V, 0.002W0.008% N and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities is prepared. The steel may further contain one or more among 0.20W0.60% Cr, 0.005W0.03% Nb and 0.005W0.03% Ti. This nonquenched and tempered steel with high toughness has high strength comparable to that of a conventional normalized steel.
