To provide a nonwoven fabric for cleaning which is adequate for cleaning and wiping of objects, such as glass products, ceramic products, plastic products and metallic products of spectacles, office automatic apparatuses, furniture, automobiles, or persons, such as the skin stuck with sebum, cosmetics and other stains and is usable in either of a wet or dry state.

Fiber webs are formed by laminating extremely fine fiber layers which contain ≥50 wt.% split type composite fibers and consisting of 30 to 100 mm in the average fiber length (Ls) of the constituting fibers on at least one surface of hydrophilic fiber layers containing ≥50 wt.% hydrophilic fibers and consisting <20 mm in the average fiber length (Lh) of the constituting fibers. These fiber webs are integrated by subjecting the fiber webs to needle punching or high-pressure fluid treatment, by which the nonwoven fabric for cleaning usable in both of the wet and dry states is obtained.
