To provide a new filament nonwoven fabric based on a thermoplastic resin imparted with the character of a PVA-based polymer such as hydrophilicity and water absorptivity through melt spinning process, and to provide a material for a new thermoplastic resin-based long-fibre nonwoven fabrics, having a modified cross-section or ultrafineness and obtained by water extraction of a PVA-based polymer as a component of a conjugate long-fibre nonwoven fabric.

The nonwoven fabric comprises conjugate long-fibre composed of (C) a hydrophilic thermoplastic polyvxnyl alcohol based on (A) a polyvinyl alcohol 90-99.99 mol% in saponification degree and 160-230°C in melting point and containing (B) 0.00001-0.3 mass %, based on 100 mass % of the component A, of alkali metal ion and (D) a thermoplastic polymer ≤270°C in melting point.
