To provide a flexible nonwoven fabric for disposable medical supplies, having inconsistent characteristics of liquid permeability, durable hydrophilicity and resistance to returning of liquid, required for a top sheet in good balance, and mild to the skin; and to provide a method for producing the nonwoven fabric.

(1) The nonwoven fabric for the disposable medical supplies is obtained by imparting a treating agent consisting essentially of a durable hydrophilizing agent and a silk protein to a nonwoven fabric comprising a thermoplastic synthetic fiber. (2) The silk protein is sericin and the imparted amount is ≤500 ppm. (3) The durable hydrophilizing agent contains at least one selected from a polyether-modified silicone-based activator, a polyether-based activator, a polyglycerol ester-based activator and an alkynolamide-based activator. (4) The method for producing the nonwoven fabric for the disposable medical supplies comprises subjecting the nonwoven fabric comprising the thermoplastic synthetic fiber to corona discharge treatment, and imparting the treating agent consisting essentially of the durable hydrophilizing agent and the silk protein thereto.
