Abstract:

NEW MATERIAL: A norbornylane and dlmethanodecahydronaphthylane drivatives represented by formula (wherein n is 1 and R is H or n is 0 or 1 and R is acryloyl or methacryloyl).

EXAMPLE: 2-(2-Dimethanodecahydronaphthyloxy)ethyl acrylate.

USE: This new material is useful as a synthetic intermediate of a polymer.

PROCESS: Dimethanodecahydronaphthalene and ethylene glycol are reacted at 40-130°C in the presence of an acidic catalyst to obtain a compd. wherein R of the formula is H. Alkyl methacrylate is reacted with 2-(2-norbornyloxy) ethanol or 2-(2-dimethanodecahydronaphthyloxy) corresponding to alcohol, that is, corresponding to whether n is 0 or 1 to obtain a compd. wherein R of the formula is an acryloyl group or a methacryloyl group and n is 0 or 1).
