Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject dispersion enabling molecular design of polyurethan resin in itself, and also enabling solution of problems with resistance to water, solvents, and the like, by using a normal temperature-curing double- bonded polyurethane-based resin.
SOLUTION: This dispersion is a normal temperature-curing aqueous dispersion of polyurethane-based resin capable of cross-linking curing at normal temperatures in its film formation, and having normal temperature-curing double bonds (preferably, the cyclopentene residue of formula I). This dispersion is obtained e.g. by reacting an isocyanate-containing urethane prepolymer with a monomer having a hydroxyl and a polymerizable double bond, then, reacting the resultant product with a monomer of formula II [R1 is H or a 1-3C alkyl; X is (Y-O)n (Y is a 1-4C alkylene; (n) is 0 or 1)] to impart the above double bond, and dispersing the resulting oligomer in water, followed by reaction with a chain extender prepared by dissolving an excess of isocyanate in water.
