Abstract:
PURPOSE: To adjust a compression margin according to the treatment quantity of empty cans and to prevent idle pressing and simultaneous pressing of plural pieces when the empty cans are jammed into a passage or between press plates.
CONSTITUTION: The spacing between the one press plate 4 and the other press plate 5 of the device, for compressing and treating the empty can 3 charged from a charge port 1 between two sheets of the press plates 4 and 5 is adjusted by parallel moving the press plate 4 with an adjusting motor 14 so that the compression margin of the empty can 3 can be changed. As a result, the housing capacity of a compressed can container 6 is increased by increasing the compression margin and conversely, the housing capacity of the compressed can container 6 is decreased to facilitate handling by decreasing the compression margin. The idle pressing is prevented by starting a compression action after confirmation of the advance of the empty can 3 between the press plates 4 and 5. Further, the door 1a of the charge port 1 is locked to prohibit charging of the next empty can 2 unless the discharge of the compressed can 3' is confirmed by a sensor 17, by which the damage of the press plates 4, 5, etc., by simultaneous compression of ≥2 pieces of the empty cans 2 is prevented.
