To obtain an amorphous complex macromolecular compound, useful as a dry toner particle having excellent mechanical strength at room temperature and low melt viscosity, by constituting the compound of an amorphous multiphase polymer of a specified structure.
This amorphous complex macromolecular compound comprises in its molecular structure an amorphous polycondensation backbone (the corresponding backbone polymer (A) having a Tg of at least 45°C) and at least one polymer chain (B) attached to the backbone terminally and/or in a side chain, the polymer chain (B) being derived from a polymer which has a number average molecular weight of 400≤Mavg≤4,000, a melting point of 50-150°C and a difference in the melting point from the polymer A in a range of at most 15°C. The backbone polymer A is preferably a (co)polyester, an epoxy resin or a polyester/polyamide mixed polycondensate. The polymer chain B is preferably a polyolefin attached to the backbone through an ester or amide of a carboxylic acid, an ester, ether or amide of a sulphonic acid, an urethane or an anhydride group.
