NEW MATERIAL:An anilide derivative of formula I (X is O, S; Y1WY3 are H, nitro, halogen, lower alkyl; R1, R2 are lower alkyl, lower cyanoalkyl).
EXAMPLE: N-(3-Chloro-4,5-diethoxyphenyl)-furan-2-carboxamide.
USE: Fungicide for agricultural and horticultural purposes: It has a powerful fungicidal effect against powdery mildew, gray mold of various crops, further it also shows high fungicidal effect against fungi resisting benzimidazole, thiofanate and cyclic imide fungicides.
PREPARATION: The reaction between an aniline derivative of formula II and a carboxylic acid of formula III or its reactive derivative is carried out in the absence or presence of an inert solvent such as toluene, when needed, in the presence of a reaction accelerator such as triethylamine at -70°C to the boiling point of the solvent to give the compound of formula I.
