Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:The azulene derivative of formula I (R1 is H, 1W10C alkyl or alkenyl, hydroxycarbonyl or alkoxycarbonyl; R2 and R3 are H, or 1W10C alkyl or alkenyl).
EXAMPLE: Methyl 3-acetyl-7-isopropylazulene-1-carboxylate.
USE: Useful especially as an antitumor agent. It has the activity to suppress the growth of cancer cells and is useful in the pharmaceutical industry. It is applied in the form of tablet, capsule, etc. for oral administration, or aseptic solution, etc. for parenteral administration, at a dose of 0.2W500mg per head.
PREPARATION: The compound of formula I can be prepared by oxidizing the 3-side chain of the compound of formula II with an oxidizing agent such as 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyanobenzoquinone.
