NEW MATERIAL: 2,3,4,5-Tetrhydro-1H-3-benzazepine of formula I (R3 is H, a 1-3C alkyl, 3-7C cycloalkyl; R4 is H, or R4 together with R10 denotes crosslink between positions with which R4 and R10 are connected, and the crosslink is -CH2-CH2-, -CH=CH-, etc., on condition that it contains a hetero atom; crosslink members linked to benzazepine nucleus are always C; R7 is hydroxyl, etc.; R10, R11, R12 are each H, a halogen, etc.; R13 is H, a halogen, etc., on condition that R10, R11 can not be H simultaneously), and an acid addition salt.
EXAMPLE: (+)-7-Hydroxy-3-methyl-8-nitro-5-(2,3-dihydrobenzofuran-7-yl)-2,3,4,5- tetrahydro-1H-3-benzazepine.
USE: A neuroleptic agent.
PROCESS: A compound of formula II is intrated to obtain the compound of the formula I.
