NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by formula I [R is methyl or methoxy; X is methylene, ethylene or carbonyl; R1 is 5,6-dimethoxy-3-methyl-1,4- benzoquinolyl, group shown by formula II (R2 is H, phenyl or benzyl), etc.] and a salt thereof.
EXAMPLE: 2,3-Dimethoxy-5-methyl-6-(4-phenylpiperidyl)dimethyl-1,4-benzoquinone.
USE: Having inhibitory action on blood platelet aggregation, positive intropic action, relaxing action on blood vessel, eliminating action on active enzyme seeds, etc., useful for treating arteriosclerosis, cerebral infarct, cardiac incompe tence, angina pectoris, dementia, arrhythmia, peptic ulcer, etc.
PREPARATION: A compound shown by formula III is reacted with a compound shown by formula H-R9 (R9 is group shown by formula II) in the presence of formaldehyde to give a hydroquinone derivative shown by formula IV. Then the reaction product is oxidized with an oxidizing agent such as ferric chloride to give a compound shown by formula I.
