Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:2-( 4-Hydroxyphenyl )-3-acetoxy-5-( 2-dimethylaminoethyl )-2, 3- dihydro-1,5-benzothiazepin-4(5H)-one of formulaIand an acid addition salt thereof.
USE: Useful as a medicine having the coronary vasodilator action or action on the central nervous system.
PROCESS: 2-( 4-Benzyloxyphenyl )-3-hydroxyl-2, 3-dihydro-1, 5-benzothiazepin-4(5H)- one of formula II is reacted with a dimethylaminoethyl halide in the presnce of a deacidifying agent, e.g. sodium methylate, to give a novel 2-(4-benzyloxyphenyl )-3-hydroxy-5-( 2-dimethylaminoethyl )-2, 3-dihydro-1, 5-benzothiazepin-4(5H)- one of formula III, which is then acetylated to afford the compound of formula I.
