Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I [A is formula II (R5 is H or 1W4C alkyl) or formula III; R1 is H or 1W4C alkyl (excluding tert. butyl); R2 is methyl and R3 is H, 1W4C alkyl or R2 and R3 are together oxo; R4 is 1W8C alkyl; n is 1 or 2 (provided that when R2 and R3 are together oxo, n is only 2)] or nontoxic salt when A is formula II and R5 is H.
EXAMPLE: 3,5-Dihydroxy-7-[3-methyl-5S-(2-methylbutylyloxy)-2-oxa-1R,6R-bicyclo [4,3,0] nona 7S-yl]heptanoic acid.
USE: A HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor.
PREPARATION: For example, a compound expressed by formula IV (R5a is 1W4C alkyl) is reduced to provide the compound expressed by formula V which is one compound expressed by formula I.
