NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I [X1 is free or esterified carboxyl, etc.; R1 is H, OH or protected OH; R2 is H or together with R1 form a single bond; R3 is OH which may be protected; R4 is H or lower alkyl; R5 is H, alkynyl, alkenyl, alkyl, etc.; Y is group of formula II (R6 is R4) or group of formula III] and its salt.
EXAMPLE: 2β-( 3'α-Hydroxy-trans-1'-octenyl )-3α-hydroxy-7-( 4'-ethyoxycarbonyl- 1,3-butadienyl)-cis-bicyclo[3.3.O]octane.
USE: An antiulcer agent, remedy for arteriosclerosis, remedy for stenocardia, etc. It has low side effects.
PREPARATION: The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting the compound of formula IV (R1' is R1 except for OH; R3' is R3 except for OH; R5' is H, alkyl, etc.) with the Wittig reagent of formula V (Ph is phenyl; X2' is alkali metal salt, etc. of carboxyl group), and protecting the OH group of the resultant compound.
