Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:The bicyclooctane derivative of formulaI[X1 is free or esterified carboxyl, hydroxymethyl, cyano, etc.; Y is ethylene or vinylene; R1 is H or hydroxy; R2 is H or together with R1 form a single bond; R3 is hydroxy; R4 is H or lower alkyl; R5 is H, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkyl, lower cycloalkyl, etc.; A is Ch=CH or group of formula II; R6 and R7 are H, etc.; m1 is 1 or 2; m2 is 0W2; excluding the compound of formula III (Z and Z' are H, etc.; R8 is H, alkyl, etc.; R9 is H or lower alkyl)].
EXAMPLE: 2β-(3'-Hydroxy-trans-1'-octenyl)3α-hydroxy-7-(o-cyanobenzyloxy)-cis-bicyclo-[3,3,0]octane.
USE: Useful as a remedy for ulcer having low side effects.
PROCESS: The compound of formulaIcan be prepared by reacting the compound of formula IV (X2 is carboxyl, etc.) e.g. with a reducing agent.
