NEW MATERIAL:A biscyclohexanol expressed by formula I (R1WR4 are H or 1W4C same or different alkyl).
EXAMPLE: 4,4'-[1,4-Cyclohexylenebis(1-methylethylidene)]biscyclohexanol.
USE: Useful as a raw material for various high polymer materials having improved physical properties, particularly heat and water resistance, additive for various high polymer materials, raw material for the additive, additive for various oily products, e.g. lubricating oil, brake oil, etc., raw material for the additive or raw material for various organic compound products, e.g. peroxides, etc.
PREPARATION: A bisphenol expressed by formula II is subjected to nuclear hydrogenation to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula I. In the nuclear hydrogenation, a catalyst, e.g. supported Rh catalyst, Raney nickel, etc., is preferably used in an amount of 0.1W100pts.wt. based on 100pts.wt. bisphenol.
