Title:
NOVEL BISPHENOL AND FLUORINE-CONTAINING ELASTOMER COMPOSITION CONTAINING THE SAME
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3890630
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound which gives vulcanized products of high resistance to boiling water as a crosslinking agent for a specific fluorine- containing terpolymer elastomer composition by allowing a bisphenol to react with a double molar amount of a quaternary phosphonium halide.
SOLUTION: This novel bisphenol is represented by formula I (R is a 1-5 alkylene, perfluoroalkylene, SO2, O; R1-R4 are each a 1-25C alkyl, alkenyl, an aryl, an alkylaryl, an aralkyl) and is used a crosslinking agent for a terpolymer from tetrafluoroethylene-perfluoroalkyl vinyl ether-a crosslinking site-forming monomer to give a fluorine-containing elastomer composition excellent in resistance to boiling water. This compound is prepared by reaction of 1 mole of a bisphenol of formula II with 2 moles of a quaternary phosphonium halide of the formula: PR1R2R3R4X (X is Cl, Br).
