USE: It has antimicrobial and β-lactamase-inhibiting activities, and useful as a medicine having improved stability in the living body.
PROCESS: The compound of formulaIis prepared by reacting the compound of formula II or formula III with a halogen and a base (e.g. triethylamine) in an inert organic solvent such as dichloromethane, at -100W0°C. The compound of formula II or formula III used as the starting raw material can be separated from the cultivation product of Streptomyces sp. KC-6643 strain as the fermentation metabolite.
